In this project we researched a certain type of architectural style and then made a powerpoint or prezi on it.
I liked making a prezi in this project it turned out really cool.
What i didnt like was how long it took to make something on prezi.
If i were to do something different i would make a powerpoint instead of a presi just cause it would be easier

Revit Shed Activity
In this project we made a small shed in the program Revit. We made it to specific dimensions and then added object to the building and changed the building materials, also we rendered it to make it look realistic then put many views on a sheet and annotated it all.
I liked using revit to create the shed, it was really interesting starting from scratch and see it all get more elaborate.
What i didnt like was how complicated revit was.
I wouldnt do anything different, this was my favorite project so far.

Roof Project Reflection
1.In this project we discovered the different levels of a roof and types of roof, and then we made a model of a roof and showed the different levels of it.

Gable Roof System
Colin Ritter, Dan Sullivan, Matt Scattergood, Blake Otterlei
Gable Roof structures are the simplest of the all the types of roofs. They are just two flat slopes jointing together at the ridge, which gives it a triangular appearance.
Some advantages of Gable roof structures are it is economically affordable; water easily flows off the roof, and they can withhold heavy snow fall. A disadvantage is they are one of the worst roof designs for hurricanes because the roof can easily peel off from the wind.
Gable roofs are found in mountainous locations, higher altitude locations, and other areas that have heavy snowfall. Gable roofs are also found in low income areas where price is a factor.
4.Reflection
- I learned all of the different levels of the roofing and how frames were designed
- I like building the model
- I disliked getting burned with hot glue
- I would be more careful with glue guns.
Design Charette
In this project we did a design charrette, where in groups of 6 we recieved a problem and came up with a solution and each person acted as a different job for the plan, like I was the architecht.
Here are our notes:
Blake's concerns:
Concept Map:
In this project I learned how a whole plan is designed out and then carried through. I like how we made a sketch of our final idea. I disliked how some of the jobs people didnt really do anything. I maybe would have had us make a 3d model of our idea.
Here are our notes:
Date/Time:
10/4/11 1:19-2:02 pm
Participants:
Dan: Health/Safety Engineer
Mark: Environmental Engineer
Collin: Cost Estimator
Trip: Structural Engineer
Blake: Architectural Engineer
Dan's concerns:
Everything we use is safe for the environment
Materials
Site must be safe at all times
Trip's concerns:
Has to be pleasing to the eye
Withstand tornadoes/hurricanes/earthquakes/river
Collin's concerns:
Stay within budget
Blake's concerns:
Design and construction of bridge
Mark's concerns:
Must not pollute air/water
Design Plan:
Build a bridge with a series of arches. For the boating dock, build a simple runway to drop off boats and also create another building for people to throw away waste since the boat dock will create a lot of human traffic.
Ideas:
Possibly use steel instead of concrete for costs reasons
Use concrete so it will hold up better to weather conditions, since the bridge is going to be located in the wetlands.
Boad dock: create small for fishing and other small vessells
Make public facilities for waste and other various uses
Possible public facilities:
Rest stop
Bait Shop
McDonald's/Burger King/Wendy's
Public Restrooms - city planner says no using only McDonald's restrooms
Trip and Blake are currently working on the sketches

This Is Your Career Project
1. In this project we researched a certain type of civil engineer and answered questions as if we were them, also, we also interviewed professional civil engineers and had them answer questions. We also made a video of our answers.
3.Keith Matte P.E., Kmatte@bkbm.com, BKBM engineers.
4.I learned that being a civil engineer could be very rewarding, I liked researching all of the college courses to take, I diliked the time it took to get a reply, I would email the guy further in advance.

Architecture Styles Model Project
In this project we picked an architectual style, like cubism or greek revival, and made a model of it. I chose the style shed and I made a model of it using cardboard and white foam.
I learned while buiilding my model, that is hard to build a model design of a house since for it to look good you need precise cuts and that it is actually quite diffucult to build a model of a house. I enjoyed building the model of the house though, I found it really fun to see it go from nothing and assemble it into something cool including your own creativity. I disliked how hard it was to make really exact cuts with the knives we had.
If I could do it differently I would make it much much smaller.
